Fitness through sustainable lifestyle changes
Hi, my name is Steve! I am a certified personal trainer and nutritionist, fitness is my passion and I'm here to help make it yours. Yes - I am a competitive bodybuilder, but that does not mean you have to want to do that too! I like to say that you may not want to race in the Indy 500, but Dale Earnhardt can probably teach you how to pass your driver's exam!
Take a second to imagine all of the healthy things you should be doing... maybe, running more, eating salad, quit smoking, drink less, sleep 8 hours, less screen time, etc. If you woke up tomorrow and tried to implement all of these behaviors, what would happen? Most likely, you would hate it and give up after a few weeks if that.
I believe in gentle changes. I believe in partnership and accountability. I believe in client education. I believe that the body reflects what the mind is given enough time. Psychology is real, and no matter what your reason for wanting to make a change, it is my goal to help you reach yours in a way that is sustainable and enjoyable to you.
No matter what your fitness goal is, burning fat, building strength or muscle, living a healthier lifestyle, I want to take the time to get to know you to find a truly personalized strategy that works.
I don't care what you're starting from, and no goal is outrageous, whether you're looking to get started or get to the next level. The only thing you need is to want it, the rest is my job to figure out how we make that happen.
If you're looking to start training or to start training wiser, reach out to me to see what we can do!
Personal trainer relationships are... well... personal. Whether you're thinking about hiring me or someone else, you should ask "does this person make me excited to train???"
I have the experience and training to help you reach your goals, but I would call myself a cheerleader first and foremost. I LOVE this environment and I'm going to give you my best to help you love it too.
When we first consider working out, it's a lot like a job, we're "extrinsically motivated", we don't necessarily love what it is, but we love what it leads to. This makes it harder to engage and stay on track.
Fortunately, motivation can be shifted intrinsically - meaning you start to enjoy the workout itself. I've studied sports psychology and I believe it is a major factor in our success or failure. I want to help you get to your physical goals, but I'm also going to challenge you to change your mindset in a positive way.
The old term is "gym rat", I prefer "gym nerd". Beyond designing training programs that are effective for you, I keep a history of your metrics. We can go back to day one and see what you were lifting compared to now. Progressive overload is how we reach results, and I stay on top of your numbers to know that we're reaching it.
